Braids for Days

For a special event or just a day in the office, a braid is a hair staple. It can turn any simple hairstyle into something extraordinary. Most importantly, this style looks great with curls! You can either play into the messiness of curls for a flirty and fun look or slick your curls back in a braid for something with an edge. Here are some braid ideas that will keep you looking classy and cool this summer:

Braid into Bun or Pony

Adding a braid gives your bun or pony a little extra something. Both of these looks are red carpet ready, but easy enough to do yourself. All you have to do is French braid the sides and then finish it in a messy bun. As for a pony, Alicia Keys shows how you can delicately braid the sides and finish it in a high pony. This same look can be adapted into a low pony or even a half up do.

Big Braids

For any summertime event, a long braid will make you the talk of the party and keep you cool. With big braids there are two options, either loose or tight. With loose braids the key is to play along with the natural texture and body of your hair, so let it be messy! Have pieces of hair falling to your face and waves going into the pony. The other option is a tight braid or fishtail, which is the complete opposite. For a tight braid you might want to use some Ri Ci Thirsty Gel and Memory Setting Spray to really lock down those curls for a more sleek and sophisticated look.

Front Braid

There are a lot of little variations you can with a front braid. You can just braid one side of your hair in the front, you can braid both sides, you can braid the sides all the way back for a half up do, and the list goes on. This can be a great fix for a bad hair day or just a quick something to change up your flowing locks. To ensure your braid lasts all day long make sure you secure it with some pins or clips and then lock it into place with Ri Ci Memory Setting Spray.
